The Accounting Intern at AmeriGas will support the Accounting team across multiple functions including cost accounting, fixed assets, and general accounting activities. This 3-month internship (September 15 - December 12, 2025) will provide hands-on experience in month-end close processes, audit preparation, ad hoc activities, and financial controls while working alongside experienced accounting professionals in a dynamic corporate environment.
- Support Cost Accounting by assisting in the preparation of straightforward reconciliations and controls, running supporting reports for various accounting processes, and helping organize documentation for year-end audit requests.
- Assist with Fixed Assets Management including setting up new CapEx and Opex projects for FY2026, investigating construction-in-progress (CIP) projects, and supporting year-end controls through follow-up communications and documentation.
- Conduct General Accounting Analysis by searching for unrecorded liabilities, performing accounts receivable aging and invoice testing, and pulling together customer liability samples from pre-buy and budget pay programs.
- Support Audit Preparation Activities by running reports for audit team selections, providing supporting documentation including bills of lading, payments, screenshots and bank statements, and coordinating with various departments for EDI selections and tie-outs.
- Maintain Accurate Financial Records by retrieving invoices from Esker system, working with different departments on invoice processing, and ensuring all supporting documentation is properly organized and accessible for review processes.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel & PowerPoint experience.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for managing multiple reconciliations and audit requests.
- Effective written and verbal communication abilities for coordinating with various departments and external auditors.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and fixed assets.
- Ability to work independently while following detailed procedures and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Currently enrolled as a rising junior or senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
- Demonstrated coursework in financial analysis, accounting principles, and business statistics required. Available to work at least 28 hours a week from September 15, 2025 through December 12, 2025.
