Job Summary:
The Power Brake Setup operator is responsible for setting up and operating power brake machinery to bend, notch, punch, form, roll, arc, or straighten metal plates, sheet metal, and structural shapes in accordance with blueprints, sketches, or specifications. This role requires technical precision, mechanical aptitude, and adherence to production and safety standards.
- Set up and operate power brake equipment to manufacture metal components to specified dimensions and tolerances.
- Select pre-specified production programs or manually program machine operations to generate brake operations for required parts.
- Align and secure dies in the machine ram and bed using shims, rules, squares, and templates.
- Adjust machine settings, including ram pressure and die clearance, to match material thickness using calibrated scales or feelers.
- Interpret blueprints or templates to lay out work stock and position workpieces for accurate machining.
- Start machines and operate controls, ensuring correct alignment of layout marks to dies.
- Set stops, reposition workpieces, and measure components to verify accuracy and conformance to specifications.
- Remove finished parts or stacks of parts from machines and place them in designated storage areas, boxes, racks, or stacks.
- Package, shrink-wrap, band, or label finished products as required.
- Maintain adherence to safety protocols and report any equipment malfunctions or quality concerns promptly.
- This position requires standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, and stooping.
- Medium physical effort is required, including exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
- Tasks may exceed the requirements for light work.
- Previous experience operating power brake machinery is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and templates accurately.
