008 - Quality - Quality Inspector - 2nd Shift

Job Summary: The Quality Inspector ensures acceptable extruded parts and finished products by inspecting and testing to the required standards, drawings, specifications, and process instructions. The inspector will make suggestions and assist the Production Team in identifying issues and preventing recurrence.

Duties & Responsibilities:

- Follow safe work procedures

- Perform dimensional checks on extruded parts at press or finishing department to ensure they are within tolerance per specifications; and work with press crew or supervisor in correcting out of tolerance situations

- Verifies cut lengths, squareness, and perpendicularity are correct at saw operations

- Perform etch and swage tests

- Prepare and maintain quality system records, including inventory status (holds, scrap, etc.)

- Works with control of non-conforming products, corrective and preventive actions, inspection status

- Perform pre-stretch as required

- Checks parts being prepared for shipment to ensure they are packaged correctly

- Prepare or test tensile specimens

- Supports and sustains the plant 5S system

- Assists in other functions as needed by shift supervisor or quality manager as previously trained

- Read and understand job sheets, work instructions and route tags.

- Demonstrate basic proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft 365 applications.
