Denison is looking to hire a Wellfield Supervisor – Operations to support work at its Wheeler River Project. Reporting to the Denison Wellfield Manager, the primary responsibility of the Wellfield Supervisor is to assist in coordinating personnel, equipment and procedures to ensure safe and efficient execution of drilling operations. Additional responsibilities include managing daily rig activities, enforcing strict health and safety (HSE) standards, responding to incidents and maintain regulatory compliance, addressing downhole problems, equipment failures or delays quickly and liaising with office base support teams.
We are seeking an experienced Wellfield Supervisor to oversee day-to-day operations for our upcoming ISR mining drilling operations, including the development of freeze holes and production wells. This role is ideal for a seasoned individual with proven operational expertise and a strong network across the drilling/completion spectrum. The ideal candidate is well-rounded, committed to Health and Safety in the workplace, good organizational skills, a strong sense of responsibility and demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment. In addition, the successful candidate will have:
- 10+ years' experience in drilling/completions operations (Land or Offshore)
- Prior experience as a (WSS) Wellsite Supervisor, Company Man, or drilling/service rig background
- Experience in a broad range of drilling methodologies including diamond core, mud rotary and service rigs
- Strong understanding of rig equipment and drilling fluids
- Able to work rotational schedules in remote locations
- Strong communication skills are essential
- Experience with Pason/NOV/Rig manager or another form of Electronic Drilling Recorder (EDR)
- Previous relevant work experience (e.g., in uranium, mining industry, Oil & Gas)
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Excel
- First Aid Certification must be valid at time of hire, or willingness to become certified prior to commencing employment
- Willingness and ability to work on a 2-week rotation in a remote mining camp in northern Saskatchewan
- Previous work experience in a remote location is considered an asset
- Valid class 5 driver’s license (advise if missing)
- Supervise and coordinate drilling operations in alignment with safety and efficiency targets
- Liaise with rig crew, operators, and third-party service providers to ensure smooth execution
- Monitor wellbore progress, rig performance, and contractor deliverables
- Oversee operation of permeability enhancement and stimulation tools for production wells
- Provide leadership on site and resolve operational issues proactively
- Maintain detailed drilling records and ensure compliance with HSE and company policies
- Recommend process improvements and technical solutions as needed
- Crew Management: Lead and manage drilling crews, providing guidance, training, and development opportunities
- Ensure proper maintenance of drilling equipment, conducting regular inspections and maintenance are being upheld
The position is based at Denison’s Wheeler River Project site, working on a 2-week on / 2-week off rotation. The successful candidate will be responsible for arranging their own travel to a designated pick-up point near Denison’s Saskatoon office or enroute to the Project site. Denison will provide board and lodging during all work rotations.
