SUMMARY: Is capable of performing a variety of welding functions. The individual should be familiar with and capable of using various types of welding equipment. A welder is also required to perform other miscellaneous tasks, as supervision deems necessary.
· Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications, and using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools.
· Fabricates pieces by cutting, burning and welding various metals. Tack-weld fitted parts together.
· Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead positions.
· Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
· Prepares and cleans surfaces and special parts for welding.
· Positions and clamps workpieces together or assembles them in jib or fixtures.
