About Brucejack
Our Brucejack Gold Mine, a high-grade underground mine in beautiful northern British Columbia, is located approximately 65 kilometres north of Stewart. Brucejack is a fly-in/fly-out operation with pick-up points across Western Canada, making it easy for people from different places to join us. We work closely with local First Nations communities including the Nisga’a, Tahltan, Gitanyow, and Gitxsan, to build respectful partnerships and celebrate our shared community.

Your Impact
The purpose of the Waste Management Operator is to safely and effectively manage and operate all aspects of waste-management while reporting within the guidelines of applicable regulations and the site Waste Management Plan. This includes, but is not limited to, the proper operation of the incinerator and maintaining plant components.
This is an opportunity to contribute to the Surface Operations Department by playing a key role in protecting the environment through the responsible management of waste, while helping make the mining industry more sustainable.
As Part of Our Team You Will
- Receive all waste streams from site. Perform waste sorting, segregation and bulk/consolidation;
- Maintain the waste management laydown area in a safe and orderly fashion, in accordance with the Waste Management Plan;
- Label all waste for storage or transport, in accordance with WHMIS, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, and site requirements;
- Perform audits on existing procedures/protocols, and provide recommendations on improving system operations and addressing safety concerns;
- Package outgoing shipments of waste properly and ensuring regulatory paperwork is completed, accurate, and included. Fill out all waste manifests for offsite shipping;
- Operate incinerator as per specifications.
- Complete daily inspections of incinerator;
- Place and compact waste materials, and place cover material in the landfill;
- Place contaminated soil in designated waste bin;
- Coach Colleagues in proper waste handling;
- Track all movement of waste on site in a waste inventory;
- Prepare all waste backhauls and deliver loads to hauler as needed;
- Monitor wood burning process;
- Help with dewatering using 2/4/6 inches pumps;
- Perform other relevant duties as required.
- Knowledge and understanding of waste management process;
- Previous experience in waste management at a remote industrial location;
- Experience with packaging, labelling and tracking hazardous and dangerous goods;
- Knowledge of workplace safety, including WHMIS;
- Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (English);
- Strong computer software skills (i.e., spreadsheet and data base tracking/monitoring applications);
- Analytical and problem solving skills;
- Demonstrated time management and decision making skills;
- Working knowledge of an eco-waste solutions incinerator is an asset;
- Cross cultural awareness with an understanding and sensitivity of the challenges associated with differences in cultural and economic backgrounds;
- Ability to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift;
- Ability to maintain high levels of performance over 12 hour shifts;
- Class 5 Driver’s Licence (class 3 is an asset);
- Certificate in Transpiration of Dangerous Goods (TDG) is an asset;
- Skid-steer experience is an asset;
- Experience using incinerator is an asset.
Your Work Environment
Location:
Brucejack Camp (fly-in/fly-out).
Schedule: Rotational (typically 13 days on / 13 days off + travel).
Conditions:
Surface mining environment with exposure to extreme weather.

We are offering a competitive hourly wage of CA$40.02 hourly . This wage is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.
