JOB SUMMARY
The Warehouse/Shop Assistant is responsible for carrying out daily physical tasks in the Warehouse to support in-house manufacturing and field service projects. These tasks include general housekeeping, shipping, and receiving, packaging, picking, sorting, and storing, inventory counting, tool and vehicle check-in/check-out, and other operational duties as directed by their manager. This role will work to ensure safe, secure, and accurate onsite storage and distribution of parts, equipment, tools, and inventory and is required to keep accurate and up to date stock records. As the Warehouse/Shop Assistant, on a daily basis, you will need to safely operate equipment such as forklifts, overhead lifts, and pallet jacks to move, unpack and pack large and heavy equipment. You will also use software and the Microsoft Office Suite to perform day to day tasks. Using all the above, you will be responsible for ensuring that all departments have adequate access to the materials they need for smooth daily business operations. This role designed to provide backup coverage for the Operations Support Specialist position. Furthermore, you may be required to perform routine maintenance tasks of the grounds and facility as well as the fleet of service vehicles, equipment, and tools. The Warehouse/Shop Assistant is encouraged to look at ways to improve current processes to make them more efficient and effective. Training will be provided.
JOB DUTIES
Essential Duties
•Offload and inspect goods on arrival and prior to dispatch and report any damage, defects, or discrepancies.
•Receive incoming shipments, verify contents to the packing slip, and match them up with the P.O.
•Sort, organize, label, and place materials on shelves and/or racks.
•Prepare and package materials, finished assemblies, and other outgoing items for shipment via UPS/FedEx, local courier, LTL carrier.
•Load outbound shipments onto carrier vehicles.
•Issuing stock from Warehouse to Production and Field Service Departments on a job-to-job basis.
•Palletize, strap, and wrap large equipment in preparation for production and/or shipment.
•Move and stage project materials in, out, and around the warehouse and shop in accordance with instructions.
•Ensure all items are accurately picked and packed according to the picklist and/or letters of transmittal.
•Stock control including cycle counting of inventory, project materials, and tools and assets.
•Take part in performing annual physical inventory count.
•Perform check-in/check-out procedures for vehicles and tools.
•Prepare tools, vehicles, trailers, and equipment to be taken by Field Service personnel.
•Perform or assist with interior and exterior facility maintenance tasks as requested.
•Run errands to vendors and hardware stores for miscellaneous items needed.
•Deliver or pick up materials, documentation from job sites or various other locations in and out of the immediate area.
•Provide accurate records of all Warehouse transactions.
•Provide support to the Production department when required.
•Recommend solutions or improvements to existing processes to reduce waste and increase department productivity and quality of deliverables.
•Housekeeping duties such as sweeping, emptying trash cans, wall patching/touch up, and furniture moving. Maintain high housekeeping and organization standards by keeping work areas clean & tidy.
•Other duties, as assigned, within the ability and responsibility level of the job
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
•This position must be able to lift up to 75 lbs., load heavy pieces of equipment, and stand for long periods of time. Position requires bending and stooping.
WORKING CONDITIONS
•Office, manufacturing shop, outdoors, and warehouse environment
•The warehouse environment is not climate controlled
•May be required to work overtime as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Educational/Experience Requirements
•High School Diploma or equivalent
•Minimum of 1-year experience operating a forklift. Forklift Operation Certification will be considered an advantage
•1 year of warehouse, inventory, shipping/receiving, or purchasing experience, preferably in a commercial/industrial manufacturing or services related company
•Experience with any of the following is a plus: electrical controls and components, security/access system components, CCTV components, fire alarm components
•Great physical stamina and manual dexterity
•Good organizational and time-management skills
•Great interpersonal and communication skills
Special Skills, Knowledge, or Abilities
•Operation of Forklifts, Pallet Jacks, and overhead lifts.
•Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, Access, etc.)
•Inventory Processes- cycle counting, stocking, and sorting
•Warehouse Operations- material handling, packaging, loading, unloading
•Handyman/Mechanically inclined- able to identify and diagnose common problems that occur with facilities and vehicles and make simple repairs
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
•Candidate must have a Texas valid drivers’ license and insurance

•Candidate requires a good driving record, clean background, and drug test results
