The Visual Designer contributes to the design and creation of WSSC Water’s visual language by creating and maintaining an informative, purposeful, consistent, and concise design foundation that spans a variety of communication platforms (i.e. dynamic PowerPoint presentations, publications, website, and social media). As a member of the Communications and Community Engagement Office, which is a fast-paced, collaborative environment, the Visual Designer provides support to the team.
Essential Functions* Creates content that conveys information in a clear and concise manner, providing a well designed visual experience while following branding guidance
•Designs, executes, and edits visual material such as graphics, including 3D graphics, PowerPoint presentations, illustrations, diagrams, emails, digital media screens, charts, photographs, booklets, models, and textual content
•Stays informed of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to continuously elevate the quality of all elements within the visual language
•Collaborates with internal clients to understand their needs, translating often technical and text heavy content into designs that are visually appealing and easily understood
•Supports all livestream operations including content development and the production of internal livestream events
•Assists in content creation for WSSC Water’s social media accounts

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities* Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, Acrobat DC) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
•Basic understanding of 3D modeling and rendering techniques
•Effective written communications skills
•Strong foundation in graphic design principles, typography, color theory, and layout
•Expert-level in creating dynamic and engaging PowerPoint presentations
•Expert-level in creating digital assets for web and print, including optimizing images for web while adhering to accessibility standards (508 compliance)
•Expertise in creating visually appealing and informative infographics
•Knowledge of various printing methods, materials, and finishing techniques
•Ability to provide detailed specifications for print jobs
•Ability to translate complex information into clear and visually appealing formats
•Ability to think critically, solve problems, and make informed decisions
•Well organized, responsible, and dedicated, with the ability to work on multiple projects and deliver refined designs in a short time
•Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines

Minimum Education, Experience Requirements* Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Graphic Arts, Publication Design, Visual Arts, Visual Communication, or related discipline
•3+ years of graphic design experience

•High school diploma or equivalent
•7+ years of graphic design experience
