Bruce Power’s award-winning Creative Strategy department is currently looking for a Graphic Designer to join their team.
A Graphic Designer at Bruce Power has the best of both worlds; working on agency type projects while enjoying the outstanding compensation and benefits of working in-house. Our small team structure allows for collaboration and strong input into the creative direction of projects. The variety of work covers print, web, packaging and exhibit design and social media content. The pace is fast, the projects are interesting and the work environment is casual but professional. Bruce Power is located in beautiful Bruce County on the shores of Lake Huron near Tiverton, Ontario.
This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.
What will you be responsible for?
•Work collaboratively to create corporate branded materials in a variety of media, managing projects from conception to post-production.
•Develop outstanding visual solutions while applying a strong understanding of corporate branding and adherence to graphic standards.
•Manage projects with external vendors such as printers, photographers, videographers and other suppliers. Navigate comfortably between self-motivation and collaboration while participating actively in the culture of the company's communications department.
Specific Responsibilities:
•Collaborate with clients through all stages of the design process and produce unique and highly effective communication pieces. This includes initial consultation, planning, coordination, development and production. Work may be carried out to support Bruce Power communications programs, partner or approved stakeholder requests.
•Work collaboratively with Communication Specialists and their clients to determine subject matter, audience, program objectives, etc. Educate clients about available production options and determine the best methods for each specific project, anticipating technical, procedural, safety and legal constraints.
•Develop concepts, create mock-ups and drafts as required. Arrange for scheduling of Creative Strategy resources and client customer and additional work group participation. Produce final version and coordinate production of product.
•Be familiar with and adhere to Company’s branding standards, as well as safety, legal and procedural constraints.
•Work both in an office setting and on location.
•Document work processes, use established filing system for archiving projects and log resources used.
•Assess new software as it becomes available and make recommendations for purchase.
•Graphic design is the primary accountability; web/interactive capabilities, video and photography skills are considered an asset.
Knowledge and Skills:
•Experience designing for a wide range of mediums including print, web, packaging, signage and exhibits.
•High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
•Experience using HTML, CSS.
•Can seamlessly work in both Mac and PC environments.
•Excellent typographic skills and attention to detail.
•Solid understanding of pre-press production and file preparation.
•Comfortable with Microsoft Office applications.
•Experience with WordPress is an asset.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects with competing priorities, while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
•Photography and video skills including knowledge of studio lighting is an asset.
Education and Experience:
•Successful completion of Grade 12 in a secondary, commercial or technical school, plus minimum three-year Graphic Design diploma.
•A period of over three years, up to and including four years of relevant work experience is considered necessary.
