Position Title: UTILITY HAND

Responsible to: DEPOT MANAGER
Position Summary: A utility hand, also known as a general laborer, is essential for the Midland Depot. This position involves performing a wide range of tasks to support the smooth operation of the workplace.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•General Labor: Performing physical tasks that may involve lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects, materials, and equipment as required by the job site or project.
•Assisting Skilled Workers: Supporting skilled tradespeople (Generator Technicians, Electricians, Heavy Duty Mechanics, etc.) in their tasks, such as carrying tools, materials and assisting with installations.
•Site Cleanup and Maintenance: Keeping the work area clean and organized, including clearing debris, sweeping, and disposing of waste materials properly.
•Loading and Unloading: Assisting with loading and unloading of trucks, shipments, and deliveries.
•Equipment Operation: Operating simple tools and equipment, such as hand tools, power tools, or machinery, under the supervision and guidance of trained operators.
•Material Handling: Moving and storing materials and supplies in designated areas.
•Assembly and Disassembly: Helping with assembling and disassembling equipment, structures, or temporary installations.
•Safety Compliance: Adhering to safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and promote a safe work environment.
•Assisting in Repairs: Assisting maintenance personnel in minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
•Inventory Management: Keeping track of materials, tools, and equipment to ensure an adequate supply for ongoing projects.
•Communication: Maintaining open communication with supervisors and team members, reporting any issues or concerns promptly.
•Learning and Development: Willingness to learn and acquire new skills that might be required in the job.
•Adaptability: Being flexible to take on various tasks as needed and adapting to changing work environments.
Other Requirements:
•Ability to work 11 days on, 3 days off rotation
•Proven experience as a utility hand, general laborer, or similar role.
•Demonstrated ability to perform physically demanding tasks and lift heavy objects safely.
•Familiarity with operating basic hand tools and power equipment is preferred.
•Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and equipment is a plus.
•Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively as part of a team.
•Strong work ethic and willingness to take on various tasks as needed.
•Basic understanding of safety procedures and the importance of workplace safety.
•Excellent communication skills to effectively work with supervisors and team members.
•Any relevant certifications or training in construction or related fields will be advantageous.
•Must be able to lift 50 lbs multiple times a day.
