UTILITY TREE TRIMMER (UTT)

Job Purpose

The Utility Tree Trimmer will be responsible for implementing all brushing policies set forth by EQUS.

They will also be responsible for supervising and training the UTW in all brushing and ground work.

Responsible to follow Corporate Safety Program and implementation.

Duties

- Ensuring safe limits of approach and maintaining right-of-way access by eliminating problems vegetation growing along high voltage power lines.

- Manage all assigned equipment and enforce the equipment maintenance program.

- Effective reporting of all problems, incidents and accidents to the supervisor. Job planning for forestry work and obtaining Landowner consent

- Responsible for pre-notification of public for forestry work on private property including obtaining permission from property owners to do necessary line clearance.

- Addressing member concerns.

- Using Climbing equipment to climb and work at varying heights cutting, trimming and pruning trees.

- Obtaining landowner consents.

- Verifying work completed by contractors.

Review and Approval of Work

This position reports directly to the Vegetation Leader

Job Requirements and Qualifications

- Certified Utility Tree Trimmer through Professional Vegetation Managers Association, or Utility

Arborist Certification

- Working knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies, including chemicals, used in tree trimming and tree removal.

- Ability to read maps to determine maintenance of existing right-of-way’s.

- Valid class 5 driver's license with a clean driver's abstract and a Q air endorsement.
