Job description:
This opening is for an Electrical Engineering position in the Technology department of Sperry Drilling, a Halliburton PSL (Product Service Line).
We are seeking motivated electrical engineers with a strong practical aptitude in grounds up development of drilling systems that utilize variety of electrical design implementations to operate in harsh environments, in the areas of analog, mixed signal, digital, signal processing, embedded programming, power electronics and so forth. The candidate must exhibit understanding in all or most of the following areas of responsibility.
Analog and mixed signal circuit design
Simulation and modeling using applications such as LTSpice, Matlab, ModelSim.
Circuit schematic, printed circuit board layout, prototype assembly and testing
Proficiency in using advanced lab equipment
Well conversant in C, embedded programming for a variety of microcontrollers and DSPs
Power electronics, power supply design topologies, motor control and control systems
Understanding of communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, etc. High speed communication protocols such as Ethernet and USB
Digital logic design and knowledge in Verilog or VHDL
PC applications development in C#, Python, etc., that interface with lab equipment and embedded processors
Candidate will be expected to participate in design, modeling, characterization, qualification, analysis, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and design reviews for new and existing electronics designs
Additional responsibilities include periodic reporting of planned and completed development activities, providing estimated completion dates, and prompt reporting of issues
This includes communication with different groups including project management, immediate supervisor, electrical and software groups, and other team members, etc.
Requirements:
Understanding of common data acquisition systems building blocks and components (analog to digital converters, DAC’s, microprocessors, DSP, FPGA’s, Flash, etc.…).
Experience with sensor acquisition systems circuit design and analysis.
Solid understanding of common acquisition system terminology and requirements: SNR, common mode, noise analysis, accuracy, precision, resolution, band width, range, sample rate, aliasing, etc.…
Experience with analog, power and digital circuit design and analysis
Strong background on common analog circuit building blocks/components (amplifiers, filters, LDO, feedback circuits, switches / MOSFETs, transformers, inductors, etc.…)
Understanding of digital communication circuits and systems
Understanding of power supply circuits and control systems.
Experience with using standard electronics lab equipment including multimeters, Oscilloscopes, Spectrum analyzers, Network analyzers, Impedance analyzers, power supplies, and function generators.
Experience with troubleshooting and system debugging.
Experience using Python and Matlab programming and ability to develop scripts for automated testing and data analysis.
Education:
Requires a minimum degree of BS in Electrical Engineering.
Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering preferred
Preferred Experience:
Fresh graduate to 5 years of relevant work experience
