Shield Engineering and Architecture is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, well-organized, and self-motivated, with a strong desire to develop their skills while contributing to a variety of residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
Key Responsibilities:
•Design and develop electrical systems for residential, commercial, and industrial projects, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, control, and automation systems.
•Create and review detailed engineering documents, including specifications, single-line diagrams, load calculations, panel schedules, wiring schematics, and technical reports.
•Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards and client-specific requirements in all engineering deliverables.
•Collaborate cross-functionally with project managers, architects, civil, mechanical, and other engineering disciplines to deliver coordinated design solutions.
•Conduct field visits to collect data, verify existing conditions, support installations, perform inspections, and assist with commissioning and troubleshooting.
•Review submittals such as shop drawings and respond to RFIs to support construction and ensure alignment with design intent.
•Manage project tasks, timelines, and deliverables from conceptual design through construction support and project close-out.
•Participate in client meetings, clearly communicating electrical design scope, progress, and technical solutions.
•Mentor junior engineers and EITs, providing technical oversight and professional development support.
Qualifications and skill sets:
•Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
•Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with 1 - 5 years of experience.
•In-depth knowledge of electrical engineering principles, design methodologies, and industry best practices across residential, commercial, and industrial applications.
•Strong understanding of electrical codes and standards, including CEC, CSA, OESC, and IEEE.
•Experience in the design, specification, and integration of medium- and low-voltage electrical equipment, including switchgear, transformers, MCCs, variable frequency drives, and uninterruptible power supplies
•Familiarity with instrumentation, communication, and automation systems is considered an asset
•Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team and contribute positively to team dynamics.
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate and mentor others.
