Description
MD&A is seeking a qualified Turbine Alignment Engineer to assist with customer outages by performing turbine alignments for both steam and gas turbines. The main responsibilities include learning and utilizing MD&A's Topless Alignment® Process, primarily aligning GE and Westinghouse steam turbines. Occasionally, you will also perform Tops On alignment checks for GE and Westinghouse steam or gas turbines and assist in aligning multi-rotor drive trains.
This position involves extensive travel within the United States and occasional short trips outside the country. It's a full-time role that may require substantial overtime during the outage season, with workdays that can exceed 12 hours. The timing of alignment work may vary between first and second shifts depending on the site's location and schedule.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- Strong technical knowledge of turbines and generators, including their operation and maintenance.
- Proficiency in alignment principles and have significant experience in aligning steam path components using a wire or laser system.
- Expertise in aligning turbine couplings using 16-point method.
- Physical capability to work on and inside steam and gas turbines for alignment tasks.
- Ability to work in an industrial environment.
- Pass drug screening and background checks.- Prior field engineering experience with Westinghouse or GE steam turbines (approximately 5+ years)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Working knowledge of Spanish
