Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. in Orlando, FL is seeking a Turbine Controls Engineer I.
The Turbine Controls Engineer I is an entry-level position for individuals with limited experience in gas turbine and steam turbine controls. This role provides technical support in commissioning, calibration, troubleshooting, and operational testing of turbine controls systems. The position requires extensive travel and hands-on fieldwork to support turbine operations and service projects.
- Read and interpret standard electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Calibrate field devices and verify slot assignments, outputs, transmitters, failsafe structures, wiring connections, displays, and loop/system checks.
- Conduct operational, functional, and tuning checks of control systems.
- Operate basic electrical test equipment such as multimeters and meggers.
- Perform instrument loop calculations and determine operational set points.
- Prepare and submit accurate reports documenting site conditions, required actions, and results obtained.
- Travel extensively, with at least 60% overnight travel required by land and/or air.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from a four-year college or university; or at least three (3) years of military experience; or at least one (1) year of related field experience.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, professional journals, business publications, or governmental regulations.
- Skilled in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information to managers, clients, customers, and the public.
- Proficiency with probability, statistical inference, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Skilled in interpreting technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and managing abstract and concrete variables.
- Knowledge of database systems, project management software, spreadsheets, word processing, email, and technical diagramming/flowchart applications.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, talk, and hear.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Work environment may be loud; hearing protection and PPE (hardhat, safety glasses, goggles, fall protection) are required.
