Truck Driver - Over the Road

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Over the Road Truck Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods across long distances while ensuring the safety and timely delivery of freight. This role requires a strong commitment to adhering to all traffic laws and regulations, as well as maintaining the integrity of the cargo being transported.

Responsibilities

- Operate a tractor-trailer or other commercial vehicles to transport freight over long distances

- Load and unload cargo safely and efficiently, ensuring proper handling of various types of freight

- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logs of driving hours and vehicle inspections

- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles to ensure they are in safe operating condition

- Follow designated routes while being flexible to adapt to changes in delivery schedules or routes

- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members regarding delivery status and any issues encountered on the road

- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies while driving, including compliance with DOT regulations

Skills

- Proficient in operating manual transmission vehicles

- Experience with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and dump trucks is highly desirable

- Strong truck driving skills with a focus on safety and efficiency

- Familiarity with commercial driving practices, including route driving and freight handling

- Ability to load and unload cargo using forklifts or other equipment as necessary

- Previous experience as a delivery driver is an asset

- Knowledge of regulations governing the transportation industry, including hours of service rules

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $0.25 - $0.63 per mile
