To help facilitate our expanding business, RMS Energy is currently seeking a Transformer Technician I to join our dynamic and fast-growing team. Our Transformer Technician I is responsible for the installation, assembly, maintenance, repair, and testing of a wide variety of transformers from different Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). Responsibilities:

•

Participate in transformer assembly, including radiators, bushings, and conservators.

•

Perform degassing procedures and pressure/vacuum testing using a dehydrator unit to ensure performance and reliability.

•

Re-gasket transformers and fabricate new gaskets or O-rings as needed.

•

Remove broken parts, prepare equipment for transport, and troubleshoot control wiring issues.

•

Complete assigned work orders and daily repair tasks accurately and on time.

•

Operate industrial and construction equipment safely, adhering to load and capacity limits.

•

Inspect and maintain vehicles, tools, and equipment to ensure safe operating conditions.

•

Follow all company policies, safety protocols, and environmental procedures, with emphasis on spill containment.

•

Support Sales by identifying and sharing leads for potential projects.

•

Assist with recruitment activities as needed.

•

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

•

Possess 0–3 years of experience in transformer oil work, testing, assembly, service, or other transferable skills.

•

Hold a high school diploma or equivalent; Class A CDL preferred.

•

Class A CDL, OSHA, and TWIC cards are highly preferred.

•

Demonstrate familiarity with Microsoft Office, online platforms, and general computer applications.

•

Bring prior experience operating electrical equipment and shop tools (preferred but not required).

•

Show knowledge or experience in transformer oil processing and degassing procedures (preferred but not required).

•

Communicate effectively with internal teams and external clients professionally and courteously.

•

Understand proper environmental procedures for prepping units for disposal (preferred).

•

Work independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision.

Other Requirements:

•

Must be able to pass a drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests, and a pre-employment criminal background check.

•

Must complete annual safety training to remain compliant with company policies and safety regulations. Training may occasionally require travel outside the employee’s assigned state or region.

•

Valid and current driver's license with a clean driving record.

•

Must be willing and able to travel frequently (minimum 80%), including daily drives to customer job sites and periodic overnight stays; flexible to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and nights as needed.

Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam.

Working Conditions:

This job requires the ability to respond to 24/7 call-outs and to work extended hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed. Work may be conducted outdoors in all weather conditions, near low-, medium-, and high-voltage equipment and heavy machinery, in areas with elevations in excess of 100 feet, and confined spaces, adhering to strict safety protocols. Exposure to loud noises from machinery is common, necessitating the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). This job involves the risk of electrical shock. This job requires frequent travel between RMS facilities and customer sites.

Physical Requirements:

The position demands physical mobility to navigate uneven surfaces, the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly, fine motor skills for handling small components and tools, and the capability to climb ladders and work at heights. Sustained physical effort, including standing, bending, pushing, digging, pulling, kneeling, crawling, and reaching for extended periods, is required. Good vision, including color vision and depth perception, and the ability to hear alarms and communications in noisy environments are essential. Additionally, proficiency in speaking, hearing, reading, and typing in English is required for effective communication and documentation.
