This position is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the Company’s tractors and trailers. Welding, fabricating, electrical and pneumatic skills and the knowledge to work with established safety procedures are required.
· Receive direction from supervisor, drivers and scheduler to complete necessary repairs to tractors and trailers.
· Follow Safety prescribed methods and procedures to complete assigned tasks.
· Operate various tools such as welders, grinders and band saw within established procedures to overhaul and rebuild engines and trailers.
· Maintain work area and equipment in an orderly and clean manner to prevent injury to either self or others.
· Assist co-workers in the resolution of issues.
· Perform federal and state inspections of trailers and vehicles.
· Inspect tires, lights and brakes on all trailers prior to delivering products.
· Detect and report defective materials, improper operation and unusual conditions to supervisor.
· Order parts and supplies to make necessary repairs.
· Participate in educational and cross training to learn air brakes, electrical systems, power and drive train operation.
· Manually lift tires, drums, springs and landing gears.
· Any other directives of the department supervisor.
· Ability to work in a “hands on” environment and get the job done.
· Ability to work as part of a team.
