We are seeking a highly skilled Tooling Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be able to assist Sales Representatives and customers with engineering support, knowledge and customer service. Engineering knowledge allows us to educate the customer in developing solutions to reduce customer claims. Engineering support develops cost saving ideas for the customer to enhance die practices while reducing component cost. Customer Service is provided by educating the customer of different grades of steel and how they may react in the die
- Design and develop tooling solutions for manufacturing processes
- Collaborate with customers to optimize tooling for efficiency and quality
- Identify and troubleshoot tooling issues
- Develop and maintain tooling documentation and records
- The ability to perform a FLD and TLD analysis to determine if a part is capable. Knowledge to determine if the problem is related to the tool or the material being used. Must be able to determine what Tooling or material modifications may be needed to obtain a capable process
- Knowledge of different grades of steel and how they react to different die conditions and part capability
- Capable of understanding and reading die simulation and the method in which it is obtained
- Must have the ability to work well with our customers, allowing them to feel comfortable during the diagnosis and problem-solving process
- Travel to and from customers as needed
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in tooling design and development
- Strong knowledge of steel and stamping processes
- Experience with CAD software and other design tools
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to read and comprehend all types of measuring equipment, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, etc.
- Ability to provide analysis as to why a part is failing and determine what is necessary to correct the problem
- Must be able to review a die and understand the function of each station
- Must be able to read material flow without the use of a Circle Grid. To determine the direction of material flow, how to adjust the flow in order to produce a quality component
- Must be able to perform a Circle Grid Analysis and be able to thoroughly explain the results of the analysis
- Must be able to review analysis and understand a part strip layout
- Experience as a Project Engineer is preferred
