We have a career opportunity for a Thermal Plant Engineer V to join our team!
The Thermal Plant Engineer supervises engineering staff on multi-discipline projects of high complexity and is recognized as a key internal reference point for technical guidance. Responsible for the planning, design, development, and execution of engineering projects involving the modification, repair, or replacement of plant equipment. Constant revision of priorities is required to respond to continual changes in plant operations and maintenance needs while executing assigned projects and maintaining completion of other scheduled responsibilities. Works daily with supervision, management, and operations and maintenance personnel to provide resolution of technical problems through response to verbal requests for information, parts, or inspections services. Implements changes in a way that is compatible with production processes to minimize or resolve issues that arise in a timely and safe manner. Provides professional instruction and shares information with staff and others to provide training and education that works to increase the overall effectiveness of the Steam business unit.

Salary Minimum: $105,300 (Grade 12)

Responsibilities:
•Manage all aspects of planning, design, and execution of multiple projects. Actively coordinate with other internal/external team members on complex projects. Establish project schedules which identify affected areas and related equipment, and coordinate project activities between contractors and plant personnel.
•Provide daily technical support to plant operations and maintenance to ensure continued delivery of safe, reliable, efficient utility services.
•Maintain records and technical information files. Includes the storage of drawings and records management, the reporting of steam excursions, monthly steam purity updates, annual steam purity letters, tracking of boiler/pressure vessel inspections and posting of certificates, etc.
•Manage expense and capital project budget performance. Keep project information regularly updated in Unifier. Provide support to the development of capital forecasts.
•Support Thermal CLASS initiatives through continuous improvement, change management, and risk management efforts.
•Offer technical training, guidance, and direction to staff in the delivery of projects and development of individual careers.
•Continuing education and technical training to remain current on latest technology changes within the power utility industry.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor's Degree in engineering from either an ABET accredited college or university, or sufficient education acceptable by management.
•15 years of related experience or 10 years of Citizens experience
Valid driver’s license in the United States, or alternate approved by management. State of Indiana driver’s license required within 30 days of first day of employment.
•In addition to years of experience, the ideal candidate shall have practical experience in mutli-discipline project engineering and possess the following skills
•Sound working knowledge of steam and chilled water plant operations and procedures including: boiler combustion, water chemistry, steam and chilled water processes, piping, machinery, electrical distribution and controls
•Practical understanding of applicable codes and standards related to steam and chilled water businesses: e.g. National Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes, ASME Power Piping Code, National Electric Code, International Building Code, ANSI, ASME, ASTM, AWS, AWWA, ASHRAE, OSHA, DPW, InDOT, as well as EPA, FAA, IDEM, and City of Indianapolis air, waste, and water rules
•Knowledgeable in all aspects of plant safety and environmental regulatory requirements
•Maintain awareness of trends and changes within the district energy and power production industry through active involvement in at least one trade association organization like IDEA, CIBO, AWMA, ASHRAE, AGA, DOE/NETL, IEA, etc.
•Must be detailed, highly organized, and able to prioritize
•Strong delegation, oral, and written communication skills
•Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
•Ability to effectively present information.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
•Licensed Professional Engineer, or other recognized certification.
•Advanced knowledge of engineering design and applicable guides and standards related to assigned engineering discipline. Advanced ability to interpret engineering deliverable content as assigned.
•Proficiency in computer software in a Windows environment, Microsoft Office applications, and Oracle databases.
•Detailed understanding of utility systems, and other infrastructure projects at Citizens, with familiarity of applicable gas, water, and wastewater regulations.
•Ability to work in office and field environment.
