Inspect, test, and troubleshoot moderately complex electrical systems and associated apparatus. Operate all types of test instruments and have some experience in the operation and coordination of electrical systems. This position requires limited supervision.
- Performs power testing of protective relay panels, switchgear line-ups, test communication, and HMI components on the relay panel. Testing also involves panel boards, automatic transfer switches, and other power distribution components.
- Maintains testing schedule per project schedule and production schedule with guidance from the Electrical Engineering Manager.
- Reviews project specifications and implement testing procedures to comply with project requirements.
- Reviews test plans of all projects against schematics
- Maintains test folder for all projects with relevant test reports, test drawings, and test pictures.
- Reviews and maintains testing equipment list.
- Creates and maintains test procedures, including testing forms.
- Leads problem-solving initiatives to analyze quality failures and help drive quality improvements (ex. ways to improve the efficiency of testing to reduce the time required).
- Performs other job-related duties as required and assigned.
- Graduate of applicable Electrical Technical School or Military equivalent and 3 years minimum same or similar work experience. Or High school education or equivalent and 4 years minimum same or similar work experience.
- Manufacturing: 2 years (Preferred)
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and various industry standards
- Strong background and experience in most types of switchgear testing
- Good theoretical understanding of electrical power systems, and good aptitude for problem evaluation.
- Able to write detailed reports, using a computer, and accurately process project documentation.
- Communicate effectively, in writing and verbally. Ability to read and write the English language.
- Good judgment, dependable, supervises projects with technical expertise and good business management skills.
- Strong computer skills including editing, formatting, and using templates in Microsoft Word, use of Internet for standards/products/manufacturer research and operation of computer-controlled test equipment.
- Willing to work flexible hours.
- Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision and resourceful.
- Ability to read and understand both electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Duties are performed in a loud production setting subject to extreme temperatures. Some duties may be required to be performed outside. Comfortable with repetitive movement, kneeling, crouching, and stooping. Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Requires lifting up to 50 pounds while bending, twisting and/or standing.
Work Environment:
May work in various settings at the Maverick Power facilities, in offices, in multiple shops, and in commercial buildings. Maintaining the same position or posture while performing tasks and sitting for prolonged periods.
