Temporary Manager, Financial Reporting (Non-Union)
(Temporary Contract – 14 to 20 months)

Are you a skilled financial leader with a passion for delivering accurate and insightful financial reporting? The Manager, Financial Reporting is responsible for guiding and supporting the financial reporting team, overseeing the preparation and review of monthly and quarterly financial reports for senior management, the Audit, Finance & Risk Management Committee (AFRM), and the Board of Directors.
What you’ll do
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Oversee the preparation, review, and distribution of monthly and quarterly management reports and presentations for senior management, AFRM, and the Board of Directors.
- Prepare and maintain financial schedules that support the validation of financial analysis, results, and statements.
- Develop and maintain system reports, consolidations, and report validations.
- Collaborate closely with business leaders and subsidiaries to summarize detailed financial data and variance drivers into executive-level presentations and reports, ensuring consistency across all deliverables.
- Establish and nurture effective working relationships with cross-functional leaders to ensure timely and efficient communication and receipt of required inputs.
- Partner with cross-functional leaders to identify and implement opportunities for automating the collection and maintenance of financial data.
- Develop and implement internal control processes to ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Support audit activities as required.
- Monitor developments in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), including exposure drafts and new/revised standards.
- Provide guidance and support to Finance and other business units to ensure the accuracy of financial data and compliance with internal processes.
- Provide leadership and direction through coaching, development, performance management, and resource planning.
- Contribute to annual business plans and budgets, managing resources accordingly.
- Manage departmental projects and key initiatives to ensure quality and timely completion within budget.
- Oversee team objectives and drive process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory, and health and safety policies, procedures, and standards.
Who you are
Education & Specialized Knowledge
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting
- CA/CPA designation
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including knowledge of IFRS
- Knowledge of the energy and utility industries, including a solid understanding of the regulatory environment is an asset
- Knowledge and experience with Tier I ERP systems
- Proficiency with MS Office applications
- Proficiency with WDesk, IBM COGNOS, Power BI is an asset
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial analysis and the preparation of consolidated financial statements including supervision of staff
- Experience in compiling financial reports in a multi-business unit/corporate environment
- Experience in a unionized utility environment an asset
- Demonstrated ability to drive efficiency through process and system improvements
- Ability to interpret financial results and communicate to both financial and non-financial management and staff
- Strong ability to lead change and engage, develop and motivate teams
- Strong planning skills, with the ability to assess the impact of decisions
- Excellent written and presentation skills, with the ability to organize and convey information in a compelling way
- Ability to plan, prioritize and execute multiple projects and initiatives within established timelines
- Strong conflict negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and resolve difficult situations
- Must hold and maintain a valid class “G” driver’s license
- Work performed in an environment with minor or almost no exposure to disagreeable or challenging working conditions.
