Duties include installation, testing, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, inspection and replacement of high voltage equipment and control systems, as well as primary powerline and sub stations. Possesses a high level of skills and is qualified to direct others, lead projects, perform complex troubleshooting and repair tasks. Job may require overseeing contractors as well as train less skilled employees under his/her supervision.
- Have a solid understanding and application experience with complex electrical systems and basic instrumentation such as 24VDC analog signals and digital switches.
- Evaluate, troubleshoot, and correct electrical issues pertaining to starter panels/drives, ESP drives and powerline components such as transformers, fuses, reclosers and meters.
- Inspects, calibrates, and repairs VFD drives, pump panels, reclosers, and flare systems.
- Installs and maintains 24VDC UPS systems, backup batteries, solar charging systems and backup generators.
- Designs and installs temporary and permanent micro grid systems and tracks generators and new PME status.
- Become familiar with the SCADA system (zdSCADA) and learn to navigate to help troubleshoot and determine highest priority during downtime events.
- Evaluate piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), control panel and junction box diagrams, process flow diagrams.
- Provide advice and expertise on electrical and/or powerline design and load requirements when needed.
- Must have solid knowledge of electrical theory and controls for high voltage systems. Be able to troubleshoot problems related to control systems rated at 24 VDC and higher.
- Oversees contractors as needed, providing specialty services (Quality Assurance, Quality Control).
- Must be familiar with NEC code and API code regulations regarding area classification and requirements for automation/electrical components located within classified areas.
- Follow safe operating practices and ensure compliance with CIVI Environment, Safety & Regulatory requirements.
- Assure all work performed adheres to CIVI standards.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of basic oil and gas processing equipment.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Basic computer skills (e.g., e-mail, Word, Excel).
- Ability to walk along open range/country, dirt roads, inclines/declines, etc. to reach equipment and climb in/out of ditches.
- Proven ability to multi-task and meet stringent deadlines with a positive and helpful “can-do” attitude.
- Demonstrated knowledge of safe work behavior and habits
- Ability to work independently and effectively with a diverse group.
- Work well with all field team members along with all office support needs.
- Ability and willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Trade school graduate or equivalent experience.
- Journeyman Electrical license required.
- Minimum 5 years’ related experience in oil and gas or related petrochemical industries.
- Uses strong communication skills, interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships.
- Regular travel to field locations required for both the Midland and Delaware Basins.
- Work Location: Work is performed at a CIVI location Monday through Friday
- Schedule: Traditional 40-hour workweek or an alternative schedule of 8-hour workdays Monday through Friday.
