The Propane Service Technician is responsible for safely installing, maintaining, and servicing propane systems and related equipment for residential, commercial, and agricultural customers. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to safety, and the ability to work independently while representing the company professionally in the field. Essential Job Functions: Install, maintain, and repair propane systems including tanks, regulators, piping, appliances, and related equipment in accordance with NFPA 58 and NFPA 54.
- Perform leak checks, pressure tests, and safety inspections on new and existing systems.
- Conduct tank set installations (above-ground and underground), ensuring compliance with clearance and code requirements.
- Replace or adjust regulators, valves, and pigtails as needed.
- Install and service propane-fueled appliances such as water heaters, ranges, and heating systems.
- Respond to out-of-gas calls, leak reports, and emergency service requests in a timely, professional manner.
- Document all service activities accurately — including test results, tank serial numbers, and work performed.
- Educate customers on safe propane use, odor recognition, and emergency procedures.
- Maintain company tools, equipment, and service truck in safe working order.
- Comply with company safety policies, OSHA standards, and all state and federal regulations.
- Participate in ongoing training and certification programs (CETP, state licensing, safety refreshers).

- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2+ years of propane service or gas installation experience preferred.- Current CETP certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Strong mechanical, troubleshooting, and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work outdoors in various conditions.- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Must be self-motivated, safety-focused, and detail-oriented.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to work outside using hand tools and electric or pneumatic maintenance equipment and tools. They are regularly required to walk, stoop, bend, climb ladders, work inside tight quarters as well as talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and lift up to 40 lbs. Field-based role with regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, crawling and use of hand/power tools. May include after-hours or weekend on-call rotations for emergency service.
