A Quality Testing Technician is an individual responsible for testing the quality of inbound and outbound materials and communicate findings relative to material specifications
As a Quality Testing Technician, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Lead in ensuring that products and services meet or exceed customer specifications.
- Perform plant quality checks per SMI’s Quality Procedures.
- Track quality performance, identify problem areas, take action to contain any deficient material from leaving the facility, and undertake other actions to improve.
- Assist with plant quality meetings and training of plant employees.
- Update and maintain Quality records on a computer. Analyze data and produce reports, as requested.
- Observe Production Line Workers’ actions to ensure sampling and testing are done correctly.
- Perform and document in-process cullet sampling in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP).
- Work with the maintenance personnel to ensure equipment operates efficiently to optimize product quality.
- Knowledge of quality improvement, control, testing, and auditing processes.
- Ability to read and interpret procedures and test methods.
- Skilled in operating quality equipment (e.g., inspection tables, ovens).
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated with effective leadership and organizational abilities.
- Experience with data entry and interpreting numerical data (calculator, lab scales).
- Proficient in basic computer operations, including Excel and Outlook.
