Summary:
The Technical Training Specialist plays a key role in building field competency and ensuring operational excellence by delivering impactful hands-on and classroom-based training across regional hubs. This role supports onboarding, ongoing skill development, and technical upskilling for field personnel while aligning all training with safety, environmental, and operational standards. Working cross-functionally with HSE, Operations, Engineering, and Special Projects teams, the Specialist will lead assessments, analyze training effectiveness, and support continuous improvement using Certarus' Learning Management System (LMS).
This position reports to the Learning and Development Manager.
Schedule:
•Primarily follows standard business hours, with occasional work outside of regular hours as needed to support operational demands.
•Hybrid work arrangements may be permitted periodically based on training schedules and business needs.
•Regular travel within the WTX hubs is required, with occasional travel to additional hubs or field locations across the region.
Duties & Responsibilities:
•Deliver hands-on and classroom training on critical assets and gas equipment essential for daily operations.
•Conduct skills assessments, coaching, and training for both new and existing field staff.
•Train, coach, and evaluate field personnel on Certarus and industry best practices for safety and operational excellence.
•Assist Operations with planning, scheduling, and executing technical training initiatives, including re-certification assessments.
•Analyze the effectiveness of training programs through data collection, performance metrics, and trainee feedback; provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
•Maintain accurate records of training activities, certifications, and assessments in alignment with compliance and audit standards.
•Support the development and implementation of training materials, job aids, and standard operating procedures in coordination with HSE, Engineering, and Operations teams.
•Ensure all training content and delivery aligns with regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry standards.
•Promote ongoing usage and development of Certarus’ learning management system (LMS), including the tracking of training completion and performance data.
•Serve as a champion for a safety-first culture and an advocate for continuous learning and development within the field teams.
Requirements:
•Minimum of 2 years in a technical field operations role; experience with Certarus Ltd. preferred.
•Strong knowledge of gas systems, operational equipment, and technical procedures relevant to gas operations.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse teams and relay technical information clearly.
•Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across functions.
•Willingness to travel regionally, including to customer field sites and remote hubs.
•Demonstrated commitment to health, safety, environmental practices, and company values.
•Evaluating training effectiveness using performance metrics, feedback, and training data.
•Ability to facilitate training sessions, conduct assessments, and coach field personnel.
•Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, with a strong preference for experience using Excel (e.g., data tables, charts, basic analysis). Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems, tools, and applications.
Preferred:
•Associate or bachelor's degree or technical certification in a related field (Instrumentation Technology, Applied Sciences, Process Technology, Industrial Maintenance or a similar discipline is preferred.
•Technical training certification such as CTT+ (Certified Technical Trainer) is preferred.
