Summary
Acts as an apprentice within the Metrology department to calibrate and repair Metrology/Radiological equipment. Assists with Board repair and power supply maintenance and repair.
EDUCATION
• High School/GED or equivalent (Required)
• Associate degree in related technical area or equivalent military, commercial, or industrial training. (Preferred)
EXPERIENCE
• Tech Met Lab (Journeyman) – minimum of 3 years in the Tech Met Lab Apprentice Program, On the Job Training, or similar plant experience. (Required)
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS
• Texas Driver’s license (Required).
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Calibrates and repairs Measuring and Test Equipment (M&TE), Radiological Instruments (RI), calibration standards, and printed circuit board assemblies of which the calibrations are traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology or a natural physical constant.
• Calibrates laboratory calibration standards and customer M&TE or RI.
• Repairs customer M&TE or RI.
SPECIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Ability to understand calibration procedures and specifications
• Ability to use mathematics to calculate tolerances and interpret calibration results.
• Consistently display initiative in the performance of job assignments
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
• Accept ERO position as needed.
• Accept outage position as needed.
• Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access.
• Successfully complete General Employee Training (GET) as required for position .
ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Environmental and physical requirements require the ability to don appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the defined role; subject to crouching, stooping, bending, twisting and/or lifting up 30+ lbs; ascending/descending stairs; ascending, descending, traversing ladders, scaffolds, stairs; working in confined spaces; moving safely over uneven or slippery terrain; working in proximity to loud equipment and possible inclement weather/temperature conditions.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Overtime and alternate work schedules as needed.
• Subject to callouts twenty-four hours per day seven days per week.
• Work in radiologically controlled areas, including but not limited to, Radiation Areas, Contamination Areas.
• Work is performed on equipment above 600 volts.
• Must transport calibration instruments and weights up to 50 pounds.
WORK LOCATION
• Due to the nature of the work, this position requires work to be performed in the field and/or at the work site.
