We’re looking for a
Team Lead, Transmission Sustainment Capital Planning
(Limited Term)
to guide, mentor, and inspire a team of Engineers dedicated to shaping ENMAX Power’s Transmission asset replacement programs. In this role, you’ll provide both strategic and hands-on leadership to enhance our Transmission Asset Management practices and drive the execution of our capital business plan.
You’ll oversee the delivery of existing capital projects; help shape new ones and ensure alignment with corporate objectives under the Transmission Cost of Service regulatory framework. This is a highly impactful role that blends technical expertise with leadership, including supporting regulatory applications — and potentially acting as a technical witness — while reviewing and approving business justifications that help shape the future of Calgary’s power infrastructure.
Major Responsibilities•Lead a team of Engineers in the development, review, approval, and defense of capital justifications and business cases developed through analytical evaluations, cost-benefit analysis, and innovative solutioning.
•Develop and execute the EPC Transmission Integrated Plan, including cross-functional project management of business case development (scope, estimate, resourcing, schedule) and advancement of capital initiatives in alignment with the business objectives from project initiation through to completion.
•Accountability and support for the management of the overall Transmission Sustainment Capital Planning portfolio, including project and program ownership duties for transmission capital projects and programs
•Lead the resolution of complex project issues, or develop, update, review, and approve new or existing processes to implement efficiency improvements in the execution and governance of capital programs and projects.
•Work with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and ensure the success of the Transmission Sustainment Capital Planning team.
•Provide direction and guidance to influence the future development of the EPC Transmission Sustainment capital portfolio that balances ENMAX business objectives with the best interests of the ratepayers in accordance with the Alberta Electric Utilities Act - Transmission Regulations.
•Provide technical support for regulatory applications, including potential witness, for regulatory hearings.
•Develop, implement and maintain process maps, standards, procedures, guidelines, and other business documentation required to improve and optimize the execution and governance of asset replacement capital programs and projects.
•Act as a budget owner, by being the sponsor on the Project Team, reviewing monthly reports, and working with PM to develop decision records and BOCAs.
•Act as an APEGA Responsible Member for the discipline of Transmission Sustainment Capital Planning, overseeing the work of Transmission Sustainment Capital Engineers, and ensuring compliance with our Professional Practice Management Plan
•Assist in the preparation and review of capital and operating budgets to ensure alignment with business and corporate objectives.
Education Required
•Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering.
•P.Eng status with The Association of Professionals in Engineering and Geoscience in Alberta (APEGA).
Qualifications & Experience
•10 years of directly relevant experience
•Previous experience in or related experience with leadership duties
•Knowledge of the Alberta Regulatory Environment
•Strong understanding of electrical systems and asset management concepts (i.e., life-cycle principles, condition assessment and risk analysis).
•Previous experience with asset management strategies, execution planning, and business case writing or review for capital projects.
•Background in technical evaluation, design and construction with Transmission utility assets including substations and transmission lines.
•Understanding of industry standards (CSA, IEEE, IEC etc.) pertaining to the design and testing of equipment and materials.

Location:
This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) work force with office workspace located at ENMAX Place (141 - 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
