ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Tax Manager position reports to the Tax VP and will work with various teams (investment, construction, accounting, etc.) to build a tax compliance, structuring and planning process around our newly formed electric-charging-station joint venture with a world-renowned automobile manufacturer. This presents the selected candidate with an exciting opportunity to not only work on our electric charging portfolio but also an invaluable learning experience in the EV industry, which is recognized globally as the way of the future. The Tax Manager will primarily be responsible for the critical tax planning and strategies around our EV joint venture investment, the coordination and preparation of federal, international, state & local tax return filings, and supporting information necessary for quarterly and annual corporate tax provision and tax basis analysis.
As the Tax Manager, you will:
•Preparation of federal, state, and local partnership income tax returns and indirect tax returns
•Preparation of apportionment schedules for state filings and calculation of indirect tax filings.
•Calculation of estimated payments and filings, tax depreciation, taxable income forecasts, tax allocation schedules and research of federal and state tax issues
•Calculate book-to-tax adjustments for the tax provision and reconcile related deferred tax balances for temporary differences
•Analyzing & maintaining tax and book capital accounts, balances and related reconciliations
•Significant experience with partnership taxation and lease taxation
•Support and implement process and technology improvement initiatives
•Proactively develops and implements improved processes to minimize income tax risk and enhance internal controls
•Analysis of changes to federal and state tax laws
•Provide internal and external auditors with information requests and explanations as needed
•Perform special projects and ad hoc analysis (including tax modeling) as requested
What will our ideal candidate bring to MN8 Energy?
•5+ years of partnership income tax experience with some knowledge of corporate taxation (a combination of working in public accounting & corporate tax department is a plus)
•Some working knowledge of ASC 740 (SFAS109, APB23, FIN18, FIN48) and SOX404
•Advanced Excel skills required (pivot tables, vlookup, hlookup formulas, etc.)
•Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
•Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing
•Self-starter with ability to manage competing projects in time-constrained environment
•Active learner – able to enhance personal, professional and business growth through new knowledge and experiences; pushes the organization to learn from other industries’ standards and practices
Preferred Qualifications:
•Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline required
•Masters in Tax and/or CPA
•Degree in Information Systems and/or experience in Tax Technology (e.g., OneSource) a plus
•Strong knowledge and working experience in partnership and lease taxation
•Industry knowledge in EV charging a plus
