The Tank Superintendent is responsible for supervising a crew that field erect, fit, weld, grind, and inspect new steel storage tanks, vessels, and structures and that make repairs to existing steel storage tanks, vessels, and structures. This position is a Supervisor role. The role directly reports to the Construction Manager and routinely interacts with Clients, Project Management Team (PMT), Erection Crews, Supervisors, Subcontractors, and Internal Support Departments.
- Supervise multiple crews across various work locations, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and schedules.
- Coordinate work across crafts, departments, and contractors; maintain liaison with engineering, planning, and procurement teams.
- Train, coach, and mentor team members, including welders in SMAW, FCAW, SAW, EGW, and GTAW processes.
- Perform and oversee steel erection tasks, including fitting, welding, rigging, and scaffold setup, using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment, adherence to safety procedures, and completion of required inspections.
- Read and interpret construction drawings; communicate tasks clearly and ensure cargo is secured and coordinated with drivers.
- Support project progress through scheduling, reporting, and resolving field issues such as productivity or work interfaces.Normal work environment will be shop or field which will require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, working near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals, and airborne particles.

Lifting 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers and small tools.

Tape measure, straight edge, level, chalk line, sledgehammer, burning torch, welding equipment, chipping hammer, fitting gear, come-a-longs, jacks, chain falls, material handling equipment, inspection equipment, hoists, hammers, pry bar, fit-up bar, wrenches, key plates, bull pins, wire rope slings, shackles, hand wire brush and cribbing blocks. - Typically, 10+ years of relevant experience with 5+ years in a supervisor/superintendent role.
- Weld Qualification/Certification in multiple processes (FCAW, SMAW, SAW, etc.)
- English is required, Spanish is beneficial

- Proficient in interpreting advanced engineering and construction drawings, including layout and fit-up for structural and tank components.
- Skilled in various fabrication techniques such as grinding, arc gouging, oxy/fuel burning, and weld seam finishing.
- Experienced in advanced fitting and erection of tank shell plates, bottoms, stiffeners, wind girders, and roof installations.
- Demonstrated expertise in rigging operations, including load calculations, gear selection, crane hand signaling, and safety inspections.
- Competent in operating elevated work platforms (manlift, scissor, gondola, spider buggy) and erecting scaffolds for tank building.
- Knowledgeable in specialized tank activities such as air raise, hydrotesting, sealing, and pneumatic testing.
- Strong understanding of construction manuals, operation manuals, and load charts; able to maintain and inspect rigging tools.
- Capable of working in confined spaces and at heights using appropriate fall protection and PPE, with adherence to safety protocols.
- Excellent ability to follow verbal and written instructions, maintain housekeeping standards, and adapt to changing job site duties.
