The Opportunity:
Are you passionate about Engineering in a world class mining facility? We are currently looking for a Tailings Planning Engineer to join our Albian Tailings Engineering team! In this role, you will be given the opportunity to showcase your expertise by supporting the evaluation, development, and execution of mine and tailings plans through collaboration with Canadian Natural Tailings Operations, Process Engineering, Maintenance and Mine Technical Services groups.

Job location: Albian Oil Sands - Fort McMurray, Alberta
•
Shift schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off - 12 hr shifts
•
Safety sensitive position: Yes
•

Key Accountabilities:
•
Develop and communicate detailed tailings plans and schedules in support of the safe, reliable and cost-effective operation of Albian Oil Sands
•
Monitor stewardship to mine and tailings plans and to Canadian Natural’s regulatory requirements within those plans
•
Collaborate with the Tailings Operations, Geotechnical, Bitumen Production and Mine Planning teams to ensure plan optimization
•
Responsible for maintenance, operation and upkeep of the tailings model and reports
•
Maintain orderly data, perform consistent accurate calculations and use mine and tailings planning software to complete assigned tasks
•
Project identification, scope development, and support included in the mid and short range tailings plans
What You Bring to the Role:
•
Degree in Mine, Geological or Civil engineering
•
Registered with APEGA, or eligible to register
•
Previous experience in Oilsands Mining preferred
•
Experience with tailings planning software; Maptek Vulcan, and Minebridge Muk3D, preferred
•
Proficient with Microsoft Office
•
Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent
