Are you ready to be a part of an exceptional team that is accelerating the future of energy? AES Indiana is seeking a highly motivated individual to join us as a Transmission Modeling & Analysis Engineer. In this role, you will play a crucial part in developing and maintaining a world-class transmission system. You will lead Transmission system analysis, perform power flow analysis, and identify potential system needs for short-, mid-, and long-term planning.

This position will support AES Indiana’s goals of becoming a leader in Transmission Planning by providing expert technical support to all prospective projects.

You will be responsible for the following:

Perform power flow analysis to fulfill the requirements of TPL-001.

Conduct additional power flow analysis to support internal effects such as First Contingency Incremental Transfer Capability (FCITC).
Estimate network upgrade costs for proposed projects based on applicable tariff.
Verify and challenge study results, performing multiple scenario sensitivity analysis.
Obtain, update, and maintain regional power flow base cases to support the MISO and PJM regional plans.
Participate in the region's Transmission Planning Processes.
Stay up to date on all relevant new and upcoming technologies (GETs) and acquire knowledge to model them according to the region's study criteria.
Understand and gain proficiency in Transmission Providers' tariff, business practices, interconnection standards, interconnection study practices, cost allocation methodologies, transmission planning standards, and transmission system performance evaluation criteria. Possess an understanding of regional transmission plans and operational practices.


Minimum qualifications for this role include:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Engineering rank will be commiserate with experience in renewable or traditional energy development, modeling, or transmission planning
Effective communication and the ability to facilitate technical discussions with both internal and external partners.


Desired skills and expertise:

Experience with steady-state power flow analysis tools, including PSSE and TARA.
Experience automating the above tools, and an automation attitude, are essential to this role as AES develops exciting, innovative tools to improve the generator interconnection process.
Familiarity with transmission systems and expansion plans, as well as generator interconnection study methodologies in MISO, SPP, and ERCOT.
