Overview
We are expanding our engineering team to meet growing global demand and are seeking a talented and experienced System Design Engineer to support the design and development of our next-generation VRFB systems. We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented System Design Engineer with strong expertise in SolidWorks and related design tools. The ideal candidate will have prior experience designing components and subsystems related to flow battery stacks, electrolyte storage tanks, and balance of plant (BOP) systems.
- Design and model components for VRFB systems, including stacks, tanks, piping, and BOP equipment using SolidWorks.
- Develop detailed engineering drawings, BOMs, and assembly documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrochemistry, electrical, controls) to ensure mechanical and system integration.
- Conduct tolerance analysis, FEA simulations, and design optimization.
- Support prototype builds, system testing, and iterative design improvements.
- Ensure designs meet industry standards, safety regulations, and manufacturing best practices.
- Produce detailed engineering materials including design schematics, layouts, FMEA reports, and technical review documents.
- Review designs to meet safety certification standards such as UL and IEC.
- Coordinate with supply chain regarding vendors and contractor relationships for product development.
- Provide technical guidance to engineering personnel, manufacturing, and field operations.
- Bachelor's or higher degree in Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant industry experience.
- Proven experience in project management within manufacturing or construction environments.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and associated simulation/drafting tools.
- Experience designing fluid systems (tanks, pumps, piping) and/or electrochemical energy systems.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials selection, and manufacturing processes.
- Capability to select and integrate off-the-shelf components and equipment.
- Experience working in energy storage, battery, or chemical process industries is a strong plus.
- Cross-disciplinary system design skills and ability to work with product design, electrical, and mechanical engineering teams.
