Sweeper Operator (Class B with Air Brake Endorsement)

Description:

Soiland Company, a family-owned business serving the North Bay since 1962, is hiring a skilled Street Sweeper Equipment Operator (Class B with Air Brake Endorsement) to support compliance and environmental operations at our three Sonoma County facilities.

To be considered, your resume must clearly demonstrate experience operating power-driven street sweepers, broom sweepers, or comparable heavy equipment in an industrial, construction, or production environment.

- Safely operate street sweeper equipment to maintain clean work sites and support compliance with air quality and stormwater regulations.

- Operate street sweeper to maintain parking areas and yards at all Soiland sites.

- Perform equipment inspections and perform minor maintenance repairs.

- Respond to compliance-related cleanup requests (dust, debris, soil and rock spills).

- Adhere to all safety regulations, site policies, and standard operating procedures.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule & Compensation

- Location: In-Person at Soiland Company’s three Sonoma County sites (Stony Point Rock Quarry (7171 Stony Point Road, Cotati, CA), Soils Plus (4343 Stage Gulch Road, Sonoma, CA), & Grab N’ Grow (2759 Llano Road, Santa Rosa, CA).

- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 4:00 AM start (8 hrs/day)

- Pay: $26 – $29/hour (based on experience)

- Status: Full-time, hourly, non-exempt

- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. (No visa sponsorship available).

- No relocation, housing, mileage, or vehicle assistance is provided. Candidates must live within commuting distance or relocate at their own expense.

Requirements:

Required Skills & Experience

- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License with air brakes endorsement.

- Clean driving record.

- 1+ years recent experience (within the last 5 years) operating a drivable street sweeper machine or comparable Class A/B equipment.

- Ability to safely drive between multiple facilities as part of assigned routes.

- Strong communication skills; must be able to speak and understand English.

- Demonstrated ability to deliver consistent, high-quality work.

- Situational awareness to operate safely around people, vehicles, and equipment.

Physical Requirements

This is an outdoor position with work performed primarily in the enclosed cab of a street sweeper, requiring exposure to weather, dust, fumes, and traffic conditions. The physical requirements listed are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. - Constant sitting while operating equipment in a cab environment.

- Occasional climbing in and out of the sweeper vehicle.

- Occasional standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and lifting moderate loads (up to 50 lbs).

- Maintaining focus and alertness during repetitive tasks and extended driving periods.

- Operating the sweeper in variable conditions (heat, cold, rain, dust).

- Ability to read and interpret road signage and traffic conditions.

- Ability to hear traffic, equipment signals, and verbal instructions (with or without aids).
