Reporting to the Maintenance superintendent, the Mechanical Supervisor will be responsible for participating in and leading maintenance work on mobile equipment. They will ensure efficient maintenance management to maximize performance. Based at the Windfall site in the Nord-du-Québec region, they will work on a schedule of 15 days of work followed by 13 days off. Transportation, accommodation, and meals will be provided.
Tasks and responsibilities
•Perform repairs on surface and underground equipment;
•Participate in problem solving to improve equipment and maintenances activities;
•Follow-up on repairs to rolling equipment and certain fixed equipment;
•Help optimize preventive maintenance programs according to equipment availability, validate the effectiveness of modifications and maintenance carried out;
•Ensure maximum availability of the rolling equipment while respecting budgets set by management;
•Ensure communication between departments and equipment suppliers;
•Participate in daily start of shift meeting;
•Participate in different project related meeting (customers, suppliers, contractors);
•Document various instructions (installation, troubleshooting and more);
•Participate in the installation of new equipment and its integration in the preventive maintenance plan;
•Ensure the prevention and safety of different types of rolling equipment, enforce compliance with instructions and procedures.
•Diagnostic technical problems and make the necessary recommendations;
•Supervise the work of technical maintenance subcontractors;
•Support the maintenance planner in the operation, management and improvement of the preventive maintenance program;
•Always adhere to workplace health and safety policies and regulations as well as environmental guidelines, and ensure that personnel comply with these rules.
•Perform any other tasks related to the mechanical supervisor position that are relevant to the success of the project. Physical environment & capacity
Qualifications
•Hold a diploma of Collegial studies (DCS) in mechanics or equivalent appropriate technique or DEP in mechanics or electromechanics or relevant experience in mechanics (5-10 years of experience);
•Experience in supervising mobile mechanics (minimum 5 years of experience);
•Hold a valid class 5 driver’s licence;
•Hold a explosives licence;
•Successful completion of mining modules 1-2-3-4-5 and 7.
Technical skills
•Proficient in Microsoft Office suite software (Excel, Outlook, etc.).
•Knowledge of the principles of continuous improvement and project management;
•Knowledge of mining equipment technology;
•Know how to use maintenance and planning techniques;
•Know how to use different maintenance software (example : SAP - an asset);
Basic skills
•Good communication skills in English (oral and written);
•Demonstrate leaderships;
•Be focused on continuous improvement;
•Be an excellent team player, tactful and political sense;
•Good organizational skills and ability to recognize priorities;
•Be autonomous, have initiative and be able to handle several files simultaneously;
