Who we’re looking for:

We’re looking for a Health, Safety, Security & Environment Summer Student to join our all-star team. We’re looking for:

- Someone who puts safety first: You prioritize safety in every task, recognizing that it's not just a requirement but a responsibility. You follow protocols diligently, stay alert to potential hazards, and proactively address unsafe conditions.

- Excellent analytical skills: You excel at analyzing data and breaking down complex problems. You can identify logical, efficient solutions and think systematically, seeing the big picture while making sure all parts work together smoothly.

- A people person: We need someone who’s a natural when it comes to building relationships—whether it's with customers, teammates, or anyone else you work with. You know how to connect, listen, and make people feel heard, especially when things get tough.

- A self-starter: You take initiative without waiting for direction, proactively identifying tasks and opportunities to add value. Your drive and independence ensure projects progress smoothly, even in dynamic or ambiguous situations.

- Organized and detail-oriented: You consistently maintain tidy and well-ordered work areas, demonstrating a commitment to cleanliness and efficiency. Your ability to manage inventory ensures resources are accounted for and easily accessible, supporting smooth operations and minimizing disruptions.


What you’ll do:

Here is a sample of what your workdays may look like:

- Update and maintain safety records (incident reports, inspection logs, training records).

- Assist with document control for EHS policies, procedures, and manuals.

- Prepare meeting minutes for safety committee or toolbox meetings.

- Organize and archive SDS (Material Safety Data Sheets).

- Enter data into EHS management systems (e.g., incident tracking, audit findings).

- Compile statistics for monthly/quarterly safety performance reports.

- Support KPI tracking (e.g., TRIF, near-miss reporting).

- Help coordinate safety training sessions (booking rooms, sending invites).

- Prepare training materials or update presentations.

- Assist with internal safety campaigns (posters, newsletters).

- Support internal informal audits by gathering documentation.

- Assist with regulatory compliance checks (e.g., environmental permits, safety certifications).

- Help update emergency response plans.

- Accompany EHS staff during site inspections or hazard assessments.

- Assist with PPE inspections and ordering for visitors.

- Observe and document housekeeping or safety observations.

- Collect and organize environmental monitoring data (air, water, emissions).

- Help with waste tracking and recycling programs.

- Support sustainability initiatives (energy use tracking, reporting).

What you bring:


Required

- Currently enrolled in a diploma or degree post-secondary program.

- Based in Fort St. John, BC or Calgary, AB (or willing to relocate).

- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable personal vehicle for travel between work sites.

- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.

Salary Range:

$43,680 - $60,320. Final compensation for this position will be determined based on the student field and year of study.
