Bald Mountain is an open-pit mine with a large estimated mineral resource in the largest private mining land package in the U.S. The mine is located in White Pine County, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world, along the southern extension of the prolific Carlin trend. Bald Mountain and the nearby Round Mountain mine make up Kinross’ Nevada operations.
Bald Mountain is an important contributor to the economy of northeastern Nevada and maintains a comprehensive environmental strategy including wildlife protection, habitat recovery and education.
Program Overview
Kinross Bald Mountain is excited to offer a structured Summer Student Program designed to provide hands-on experience, professional development, and meaningful exposure to the mining industry. Located approximately 1.5 hours from Elko, Nevada, and 2 hours from Ely, Nevada.
Bald Mountain Mine is a remote site where students will support both site-wide and community-based projects while gaining insight into daily mining operations.
The program will run from June 23 to August 14, 2025 (up to 90 days), with students working Monday through Thursday, 10-hour shifts.
We are seeking two types of students to participate in this program:
•Rotational Summer Students – These students will rotate through multiple departments over the course of the program, supporting hands-on projects across site and community settings. This role is ideal for those interested in gaining broad exposure to the mining industry and contributing to a variety of field-based initiatives.
•Administrative Summer Students – These students will support administrative functions while also participating in site-wide and community projects. They will work closely with departments such as Human Resources, Health & Safety, and other support departments. Strong computer skills, organizational abilities, and prior experience with office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) are required. Candidates must be able to complete quality work with limited supervision and manage multiple tasks effectively. This role is well-suited for individuals interested in operational support, business services, or corporate functions within an industrial setting.

Priority will be given to dependent children of current Bald Mountain employees who are enrolled in a college, university, or trade school for Fall 2025.
Additional Requirements
Successful students must complete a background check, drug screen, and physical. This role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform routine physical tasks, such as walking, standing, bending, and carrying materials or equipment as needed, often while working outdoors and in various elements.
Additional Information
•Students are responsible for their housing.
•Transportation is provided but not guaranteed; if busing is unavailable, students must arrange their transportation (This is not common).
•Summer hire work is not guaranteed, and students are held to the same performance and safety standards as all Bald Mountain personnel.
•Orientation and safety training (MSHA) will be provided during the first week.
•Regular performance feedback will be provided during the program..

All selected students will be hired through a temporary staffing agency (Rangefront) and will not be eligible for Bald Mountain benefits.
