Job Description: Structural Engineer
The Structural Engineer will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and reviewing structural systems for utility-related and commercial infrastructure projects. This position requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards while supporting overall project goals.
Key Responsibilities
Structural Design & Analysis
•Perform structural analysis and prepare designs for foundations, supports, platforms, and utility infrastructure.
•Create engineering drawings, technical specifications, and calculation packages.
•Evaluate structural integrity and load-bearing capabilities using industry-standard software and engineering principles.
Project Management Support
•Support project teams throughout the project lifecycle, from concept design through construction.
•Coordinate with project managers, civil and electrical engineers, drafters, and clients to ensure seamless integration of structural components.
Regulatory Compliance
•Ensure designs adhere to local, state, and national building codes, as well as utility company requirements.
•Stay current with applicable structural standards (IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC, etc.) and regulatory updates.
Field Support
•Conduct site visits to assess conditions, verify existing structures, and support construction activities.
•Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting during construction or renovation phases.
Quality Assurance & Documentation
•Review and verify drawings, reports, and submittals for accuracy and completeness.
•Maintain thorough documentation of designs, revisions, calculations, and inspection reports.
Collaboration & Communication
•Work closely with cross-functional teams including civil, electrical, and geotechnical engineers.
•Participate in project meetings and provide clear, professional communication with stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement
•Identify opportunities to improve engineering workflows, tools, and design methodologies.
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).
•Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain one.
•Minimum of 3 years of experience in structural engineering, preferably related to utility or infrastructure projects.
•Proficient in engineering design and analysis software (e.g., RISA, SAP2000, STAAD, AutoCAD, Revit).
•Strong understanding of structural design codes and standards.
