The primary role of the Structural Engineer is to conduct an in-depth structural analysis of material handling storage systems, including analyzing second order structural stability, connection design, and selecting adequate components to ensure a safe, code compliant design. The Structural Engineer will collaborate and lead discussions with both customer-facing individuals and manufacturing personnel to provide a complete storage system that meets all needs for all parties. The Structural Engineer should have a thorough understanding of steel structural design fundamentals (preferred both cold-formed and structural steels), building code requirements, effective communication skills, and strong organizational skills.
- Bachelor’s Degree from ABET accredited school in Civil/Structural or Mechanical Engineering (Required), which qualifies for licensure in the state of practice
- Professional Engineer or Structural Engineer Licensure required (P.E. / S.E.)
- Preparing structural calculations for existing and new storage systems
- Reviewing detailed drawing sets for completeness and correctness
- Maintaining a detailed record for assigned project tasks
- Leading discussions with clients and other personnel to define project scopes, progress, and resolution
- Assists in department discussions and decisions on engineering problems, best practices, and procedures
- Acting in Responsible Charge of projects including, but not limited to, the sealing of drawings/calculations/letters
- Maintaining continuous professional education within a Civil/Structural Engineering discipline
- Thorough understanding of AISC 360, ASCE 7, and IBC required. Additional code familiarities preferred
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for leading discussions
- A strong sense of professional and ethical responsibility
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Extensive knowledge of structural engineering principles and practices
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, RISA3D, and Microsoft Office Suite or related software preferred
