Idaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for a Stations Designer to join our Planning, Engineering, and Construction team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. While this position is based at Idaho Power’s downtown Boise location, we offer both flexible schedules and the opportunity to work up to 40% remote.
What does a Stations Designer do for us?
Station designers work on project teams to develop and issue electronic substation drawing packages that prioritize safety, accuracy, system reliability, operability, and consistency. They support projects from scoping through design, contractor coordination (when applicable), material specification and ordering, construction, and record issues.
Responsibilities include incorporating apparatus, civil, structural, physical, local service, and ancillary systems into a complete design package in accordance with applicable industry standards, codes, and Idaho Power Stations Design and Construction practices. Typical project milestones include using the Yard Plan to produce, route, and review the Plan Drawings (Foundation, Grounding, Grading, Fence, Cable & Conduit, etc.), Elevations & Sections, Detail Drawings, Removals, and Bill of Materials.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 10 lbs. The above is a summary of the primary essential functions of the position. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Completion of designated portions of the Stations Design Training Program. Additional safety related training may be required.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Travel across Idaho Power service area with occasional overnight or extended out-of-town stays may be required. Extended hours (overtime) will occasionally be required to meet deadlines.
