We believe in providing a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive and make an impact.* Position PurposeUnder the direction of the Manager, Stations Design this position is responsible for preparing designs, documents and work instructions for the installation/modification/removal of new or existing station equipment, as part of a joint stations stakeholder project team, as well as the control and maintenance of the station print database. This position would also assist in the design and development of Alectra’s station construction standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepare designs, documents, bills of material, equipment specifications and work instructions for the installation/modification/removal of new or existing station equipment as part of a joint stations stakeholder project team. Assist in evaluation of alternative proposals.
- Perform site visits and liaises with stakeholders to obtain necessary information to prepare design information.
- Prepare/revise electrical and mechanical drawings related to the installation/modification/removal of new or existing station and telecom equipment utilizing CAD workstation.
- Specify/order and procure project related equipment ensuring compliance with project design. Checks and verifies manufacturer’s submittals.
- Provide project related guidance to and answers inquiries from stakeholders and external consultants.
- Review as-built information and ensures incorporation into stations records database and ensures compliance with latest ESA directives.
- Responsible for the control and maintenance of the station print database and station document management system.
- Design and develop station construction standards.
- Responsible for a working knowledge and understanding of and make all efforts reasonable to work in accordance with and ensuring work is done in compliance with the appropriate safety legislation, EUSR rules, Alectra policies and procedures and safe work practices that apply to the work while adhering to the internal responsibility system. Reports any unsafe conditions or observed unsafe work practices using Alectra procedures.
- The incumbent may be asked to perform other related duties which may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills And Competencies
Education & Specialized Knowledge- College diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent.
- College Diploma/Certificate in the CAD discipline would be beneficial.
- Registration with OACETT.
- Minimum five (5) years of practical and theoretical related experience with transformer and municipal station design in a utility environment.
- Requires thorough understanding of Protection & Control and Telecommunications systems is an asset.
- Ability to use business computing software applications, including: MS Office applications, JDE Edwards Enterprise One.
- Experience in the use of computer aided drafting in a utility stations environment.
- Strong strategic, analytical and communication skills with ability to influence others.
- Self starter with the ability to promote continual improvement through innovation.
- Energetic and enthusiastic team player committed to overall success of the organization.
- The ability to provide innovative solutions to complex issues in a timely manner.
- Strong knowledge in electrical distribution systems.
- Strong knowledge of Alectra’s standard construction drawings, policies, procedures and practices.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
- Valid Drivers License (G).
