The Senior Engineering Technician performs advanced technical functions with minimal supervision, supporting the creation and modification of engineering deliverables. This role requires expertise in electronic applications, industry standards, and document control processes. The position may also provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineering professionals.
- Apply comprehensive knowledge of engineering standards, systems, document control procedures, departmental guides, and applicable codes.
- Ensure all deliverables comply with relevant project standards and company policies.
- Apply company Quality Program principles to all deliverables, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement and change management initiatives.
- Review design inputs for accuracy and alignment with project requirements.
- Utilize advanced applications and tools to improve efficiency in design and documentation processes.
- Develop and create engineering deliverables from various design inputs, including drawings, models, and technical documents.
- Perform computations such as developing detailed material quantities, cost estimates, and layouts.
- Develop less complex design concepts independently under minimal supervision.
- Coordinate project deliverables with other disciplines to minimize conflicts and ensure project integration.
- Support field activities as required.
- Contribute to project closeout tasks, such as preparing as-built documentation and consolidating project records.
- Understand internal client needs and maintain awareness of external client objectives and drivers.
- Deliver high-quality outputs that meet or exceed client expectations.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and design tools relevant to the substation industry.
- Proactively share technical knowledge and best practices with peers and team members.
- Exercise sound judgment in interpreting design inputs and making deliverable-related decisions.
- Provide guidance, direction, and mentorship to less experienced technicians and designers.
- Support career development of junior team members through knowledge sharing and technical training.
- 3–5 years of experience with
Autodesk Inventor
and
SDS (Substation Design Suite)
in the substation industry.
- Proven experience in
substation design
is
mandatory
.
- Candidates with Inventor experience
but no substation background
will not be considered.
- Diploma or Certificate in Drafting, Engineering Design, or a related technical discipline preferred.
- Associate Degree in Drafting or Engineering Design Technology is highly preferred.
- Must be located within
50 miles
of a client office.
