Overview
This position requires a "hands-on" technically and managerially qualified contributor with broad and appropriate electrical utility experience. Must have the ability to organize, plan, coordinate, manage, and control the position's assigned responsibilities in an efficient and cost-effective manner. The individual must have outstanding managerial abilities and a proven track record of relative performance.The Senior Specialist will be responsible for providing oversight to facilitate the necessary due diligence to effectively adhere and to and provide timely reporting of all regulatory, EH&S, Corporate and departmental policies and procedure compliance. Results required include ensuring that Department is current with all regulatory standards and policies, that employees are performing all duties in compliance with all EH&S protocols and departmental procedures and that the department is in compliance with all corporate procedures and guidelines.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
•Ensure implementation of Company safety, health, and environmental programs for employees, ensuring compliance with Company policy and governmental regulations.
•Commit to the Way We Work Principles and adhere to the Companys Standards of Business Conduct and other procedures, including EH&S, EEO, discipline, and security.
•Enhance the Customer Experience by fostering a proactive, customer-centric culture to build trust and improve value for stakeholders.
•Provide guidance to Substation Operation personnel to ensure compliance with all regulatory, EH&S, and departmental policies and procedures.
•Maintain and develop procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory, EH&S, and departmental policies and procedures.
•Develop, maintain, and administer departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with FERC, NERC, and NPCC requirements.
•Develop and maintain methods to store evidence of NERC and NPCC compliance and track upcoming compliance deadlines.
•Ensure Substations are fully compliant with regulatory, EH&S, and departmental policies and procedures, and implement mitigation plans for noncompliance.
•Perform inspections/audits of field crews to ensure procedural compliance.
•Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of NERC and Regional Entity mandatory reliability standards and manage the NERC Standards Compliance Program.
•Coordinate compliance activities with CECONY personnel, neighboring companies, and regulatory contacts to ensure joint activity commitments are met and best practices are employed.
•Monitor NERC and Regional Entity for new or revised reliability standards, provide feedback, and keep management informed of developments. Create compliance programs and procedures to ensure adherence to new requirements
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
•Bachelor's Degree Engineering, Business, Information Technology, Organizational Management or a technical field. and 3 years in the electric power industry or regulatory agency. or
•Associate's Degree Engineering, Business, Information Technology, Organizational Management or a technical field. and 5 years in the electric power industry or regulatory agency. or
•High School Diploma/GED 7 years in the electric power industry or regulatory agency.
Relevant Work Experience
•Must have experience working in the electric power industry or regulatory agency. Regulatory, Compliance, Audit, or Internal Controls administration experience (highly preferred), required.
•Must have experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, required.
•Must have demonstrated attention to detail in project work. Experience working in teams, required.
•Must have demonstrated ability to adhere to schedules and meet deadlines, required.
•Must have demonstrated performance of value-added assignments, required.
•Must have demonstrated performance of value-added assignments, required.
•Familiarity with NERC Reliability Standards applicable to O&Rs registrations, preferred.
•Familiarity applying the Bulk Electric System (BES) Definition to electric power systems, preferred.

•The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
•Must be able to participate in the Companys emergency management processes and storm plans as required.
•Must be willing to attend meetings and conferences outside of the Company service territory as needed.
