Brief Description:
Senior MWD Technician will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of MWD tools. These duties will include testing electronic components, repair, maintenance and troubleshooting of Directional Survey and Gamma downhole equipment and performing electronic roll tests on MWD survey equipment. This position is responsible for documentation of work performed with an emphasis on accuracy. The position is expected to perform all functions with a focus on quality results, and adherence with Patterson/MSD Safety Policies and Respectful Workplace Policies. Non-technical duties include conducting/participate in various meetings, training, and developmental activities.
The Senior MWD Technician works under the direction of the MWD Shop Manager.
Detailed Description:
•Follow safety policies and procedures
•Operate high temperature and electronic systems
•Operate and interpret lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, voltmeters, Frequency counters
•Troubleshoot existing products and identify failed components
•Maintain tools and other pre and post job operations
•Ensure the shop space is clean and organized
•Ensure that all equipment is clean and in good working order
•Participate in and/or conduct required meetings, training, and development activities
•Operate high temperature test equipment and electronic systems
•Advanced competencies in troubleshooting existing products and identify failed components independently
•Rebuild and maintain components for MWD downhole drilling probes
•Expert knowledge of MWD tools to be able to assist in training of MWD Field Specialist and R&M Personnel
•Gather and read information from internal memory on MWD tool components
•Keep accurate maintenance records on services performed daily
•Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
•Proficient at demonstrating clear written and verbal communication skills including ability to promptly give, and follow, directions when working with others
•Must be able to perform service maintenance on all MWD tool components
•Ability to handle multiple projects and supervisors at once
•Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools to perform a range of mechanically oriented functions including independent use of heavy-duty handheld and long-handled tool
•Lift and carry 50 pounds independently while walking on uneven surfaces
•Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills including ability to interact productively with coworkers and third parties
•Advanced computer skills within Microsoft Office Suite: Work, Excel, Power Point, InfoPath, Access, OneNote, SolidWorks
•Clear vision to judge near and far distances to maintain awareness of, watch and report ongoing work activities to coworkers and third parties
•Ability to safely navigate the shop work sites with occasional walking, climbing, standing, stepping, etc. during normal operating conditions (day/night, outdoor hot/cold weather)
•Bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and crawl occasionally during visits to field and operational work areas
•Maintain spatial orientation and awareness to safely move around work environment with many moving objects
•Stay alert and focused up including occasional extended work periods
•Physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations
•Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all designated times
Minimum Qualifications:
•High School Diploma or GED
•Minimum 3.5 years experience as MWD Shop experience or combination of MWD field and shop totaling 3.5 years.
•Knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite of Applications
•Live within 1 hour driving distance from Conroe facility
Preferred Qualifications:
Thorough knowledge of MWD Operations

Additional Details:
This job requires the ability to work under time-sensitive deadlines and maintain a calm and professional demeanor when adversity is encountered. It also requires the physical ability to work in shop environment including loud noise, outdoor weather conditions, working near moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes, chemicals, and airborne particles. The job may require overtime including weekends or holidays and can include travel with overnight stays. All applicants must be able to commit to a full-time schedule.
