The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead and influence the mechanical design function for complex, custom-engineered products. This role focuses on achieving best-in-class cycle times, superior quality, and reduced per-unit costs while ensuring designs meet client, regulatory, and industry standards. As a senior leader, you will mentor mechanical engineers, designers, and drafters, implementing design strategies, improving processes, and mentoring team members. This position requires both deep technical expertise and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, estimating, and quality teams.

Schedule: Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm
- Lead the development and implementation of mechanical design strategies for low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems, motor control centers, and custom equipment.
- Provide technical guidance on material selection, mechanical layout, and design concepts to ensure compliance with UL standards and client specifications.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering, Field Service, and Estimating teams to improve design feasibility, efficiency, and quality.
- Mentor and support junior engineers and designers, promoting knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Identify and implement advanced tools, software, and design techniques to increase engineering efficiency and reduce costs.
- Oversee the management of engineering resources, manpower, and tools to meet project schedules and client requirements.
- Review and approve mechanical designs, drawings, and documentation prior to manufacturing release.
- Support innovation initiatives by contributing to new product development and process improvement projects.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, required; Master’s Degree or MBA, Required.
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) preferred.- 5+ years of mechanical engineering design experience in marine, heavy industrial, or oil & gas sectors. - 5+ years of experience designing electro-mechanical power systems, including low-voltage and medium-voltage power distribution, motor control centers, and controls integration, Required.
- Proven ability to lead design projects and mentor junior engineers.
- Proficiency in 3D mechanical design software: SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Creo/Pro E Wildfire.
- Knowledge of UL standards (UL-1558, UL-891, UL-67, UL-508, UL-845, UL-DLAH) and regional utility codes.
- Experience with MRP/ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or AS400.
- Strong understanding of production processes, materials, fabrication, and assembly techniques.
- Ability to produce precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models for complex custom equipment.
- Advanced problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to present complex designs and technical concepts to management, clients, and cross-functional teams.
- High-level mathematical skills (statistics, probability, and applied engineering calculations).
