Develops, implements, manages and provides counsel on HR strategies that support the Business Unit’s strategy. Provides work direction and guidance to HR Business Partners in delivering strategic support to assigned Business Units.
1. Acts as the primary contact for all HR activities of assigned Business Unit(s). Provides strategic support to assigned Business Units including training and development, objective setting, and resource scheduling. Develops recommendations and assists with implementation of HR initiatives. Actively participates in the Business Unit’s strategic business planning process and leads the development of HR strategies.
2. Advises and counsels leadership on all HR issues such as staffing, labor relations, safety, drug and alcohol, diversity, performance management, and employee relations. Provides coaching to leadership regarding HR policies, compensation plan, benefit programs, affirmative action plan, collective bargaining agreements, labor/employment laws, resolving complex personnel issues.
3. Ensures alignment of HR strategy and business goals on a variety of issues such as safety, organization planning and development, succession planning, workforce optimization, performance management, drug and alcohol program, change management, policies and procedures.
4. Collaborates with Business Leaders, Labor Relations and Union Representatives for special labor agreements and facilitates the grievance resolution process.
5. Collaborates with Training and Development in determining development needs for the Business Unit(s). Facilitates training programs as needed.
6. Remains current with trends and knowledge in the HR profession to effectively meet client needs.
7. Responds to employee concerns in areas such as EEO complaints, harassment, hostile work environment, safety and healthy work environment and the collective bargaining agreement.
8. Provides work direction, support and coaching to HR Business Partners. Provides input on personnel activities pertaining to HR Business Partners including performance appraisals and disciplinary actions.
Education and Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree and 6 or more years of related experience or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Successful track record of identifying HR solutions and advising and counseling managers on employee relations issues; excellent knowledge of labor and employment law. Excellent problem-solving, conflict resolution, communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees. Experience working with represented and non-represented workforces is preferred.
Equipment and Applications
PCs, word processing, spreadsheet and database software. Knowledge of human resource systems such as Oracle Fusion preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
General office environment. No special physical demands required. Regular travel in the Las Vegas valley required; infrequent out-of-town travel.
