Sr. Accountant

Position Summary

The Sr. Accountant will support corporate by maintaining accurate records of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, and tax liabilities, and ensuring financial reporting accuracy. The role will focus on monthly close, reconciliations, and corporate-level accounting activities, while also assisting with audits, compliance, and process improvements across the Finance Department. Position will train or mentor Accountants as directed.

Job Responsibilities

- Own core month end close activities including accruals, reconciliations, and journal entries.

- Take full ownership of the fixed asset process including capitalization, project tracking, approvals, reporting, and accuracy of the subledger.

- Partner with the Accounting Manager and Director of Accounting to support the rebuild of the fixed asset subledger and strengthen policies, controls, and reporting.

- Assist with lease accounting entries and ensure monthly activity is recorded accurately.

- Prepare schedules and support documentation for internal reporting and PE sponsor reviews.

- Identify gaps in existing processes and recommend improvements to drive efficiency.

- Collaborate cross functionally with Operations and FP&A on capital projects and month end deliverables.

- Support system modernization efforts, including the future ERP implementation.

- Handle additional projects related to close, analysis, and reporting as assigned.

- Partner with other departments to support process improvements, system enhancements, and special projects.

- Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required.

- 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in corporate or multi-entity environments.

- Experience with Accounting Software (Microsoft Dynamics GP or similar ERP); strong MS Office skills, especially Excel.

- Blend of industry experience and public accounting audit is preferred

- Proactive mindset with interest in improving processes and supporting system upgrades

- Strong knowledge of GAAP and corporate accounting practices.

- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple tasks, and work independently.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

- Able to collaborate with individuals across all levels of the organization; customer-focused mindset.

- High attention to detail, accuracy, and efficiency.

Additional Information

Travel: 0-5%

Location: Houston, TX

Compensation: $85,000 - $119,000 depending on experince + 15% bonus.

Physical Demands: Occasionally lifting 25lbs. Position sits completing computer and phone work.
