The Specialist, Metering Analytics plays a pivotal role in optimizing Alectra's metering operations by collecting, analyzing, and visualizing diverse datasets. You will empower decision-makers with data-driven insights, facilitating continuous improvements and strategic decisions in alignment with organizational goals.
What You’ll Do
Data Collection and Analysis•Independently collect, clean, and organize data using programming languages.
•Conduct research and analysis on both structured and unstructured data.
•Perform large-scale experimentation to uncover hidden relationships within datasets.
Data Visualization and Reporting
•Create visual representations of data to enable quick business decision-making.
•Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations using tools like Power BI.
•Prepare detailed presentations and reports for senior management and stakeholders.
Process Automation and Monitoring
•Implement automated processes to identify system faults or discrepancies proactively.
•Collaborate with internal teams to integrate meter information into broader organizational processes.
•Provide technical support and training on data visualization tools and automation techniques.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation
•Explore emerging tools and technologies to enhance data analytics and reporting capabilities.
•Regularly audit meter information for accuracy and adherence to organizational standards.

Who You Are
Education & Specialized Knowledge
•Post Secondary Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analysis, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
•Experience with data visualization and reporting tools, particularly Power BI, to create dashboards, reports, and visualizations.
•Experience developing AI agents and leveraging generative AI to create automated analysis.
•Expertise with programming languages to action process automation and data analysis.
•Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, macros, and VBA scripting for automation and data analysis. Proficiency in Microsoft Power Automate and Power Query.
Experience
•3-5 years of experience in data analysis, reporting, or metering analytics, ideally within the energy, utilities, or a similar industry.
•Proven experience in working with Visual Studio, Python, JSON, Microsoft Power Apps, VBA, and other programming languages for automating reporting, data analysis, and system optimization.
Skills/Abilities/Competencies
•A skilled practitioner in Visual Studio, Python, JSON, Microsoft Power Apps, and VBA.
•Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills with staff, management, and other departments to achieve positive outcomes for the company.
•Ability to present technical data and complex reports in a clear and concise manner to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to improve meter fleet performance and project outcomes.
•Demonstrated ability to oversee multiple tasks and quickly manage rapid changes in priorities and resources.
•Demonstrated ability to work under minimum supervision in a high-volume environment with heavy production and deadline requirements.
•Proficiency in process improvement and automation, with the ability to design and implement efficient workflows, automate reporting tasks, and streamline data management.
•Knowledge of systems and database tools, with the ability to work with large datasets.
•Knowledge of the Measurement Canada Act and Regulations, OEB regulations, ESA regulatory legislation, and other codes, rules and regulations related to electricity metering an asset.
•Knowledge of metering concepts and supporting technologies, and industry practices an asset.
•Knowledge of regulatory and governmental requirements (OEB Rules and Regulations, PIPEDA and OHSA).
