Purpose:
Working as a team member within our Health, Safety, Environment & Quality Department to lead the ergonomics initiative for Canada. This role will be integral in creating an ergonomics program that includes an ergonomics policy, PDA library, training materials as well as related job-hazard analyses to enhance safety and prevent musculoskeletal disorders.
What you’ll do:
•Conduct physical demands analysis for job-tasks across the organization, including operations, retail, fleet, distribution and office work environments. This will include utilizing various analytical methods such as Jack Human Modeling, HandPak, 3DSSPP (Michigan 3D), InSeer AI to develop and present high level ergonomic reports.
•Develop ergonomic related training materials for safety talks, lunch-and-learns, and intranet postings to promote healthy ergonomic work practices.
•Support by investigating workplace incidents, mechanisms of injury and producing related high-quality reports
•Develop detailed work reintegration plans for workplace injured employees and follow up/report on their progress.
•Participate in incident investigations involving musculoskeletal injuries by providing ergonomic expertise in establishing effective root cause analysis and recommending preventative actions.
•Lead safety talks on topics of ergonomics to audiences across the organization.
•Participate in job-hazard analysis to establish key risk factors and identify control measures to enhance safety performance.
•Develop detailed reports on job-task improvements by offering realistic, effective recommendations to enhance safety and operational effectiveness.
•Work in partnership with key stakeholders such as Human Resources and the business in updating detailed job descriptions
•Other duties as assigned.
What it takes:
Education and Experience:
•Technical Degree or diploma, or relevant experience.
•Knowledge and experience with assessing ergonomic risk factors and completing PDAs.
•Experience with analytical tools and software programs such as: force gauges, postural assessments, Jack Human Modeling, HandPak, 3DSSPP (Michigan 3D), InSeer AI.
•Principles of loss causation and risk assessment.
Ability to Travel:
•Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to travel to local sites in the Greater Toronto Area up to 50% of the time.
