Position Overview Affordable Solar is seeking motivated individuals to join our electrical apprenticeship program specializing in residential solar installations. No prior electrical experience required - we provide comprehensive training to build both electrical fundamentals and solar expertise. This entry-level position is perfect for someone looking to start a career in the electrical field while focusing on the growing renewable energy sector.
- Learn electrical fundamentals through hands-on solar installation work
- Assist experienced electricians with residential solar panel system installations
- Help with electrical connections from solar arrays to inverters and electrical panels
- Learn to install and configure monitoring systems and electrical safety equipment
- Assist with electrical system assessments and basic calculations
- Support routine maintenance and system inspections
- Learn troubleshooting techniques for inverters, monitoring, and electrical connectivity
- Help with upgrades and modifications to existing solar installations
- Learn local electrical codes, NEC standards, and utility requirements
- Work alongside experienced solar technicians to complete projects efficiently
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and materials used
- Develop professional communication skills with homeowners
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn
- Basic math and problem-solving skills
- Physical ability to work on rooftops and in various weather conditions
- Comfortable working at heights
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
- Good communication skills
- Interest in renewable energy and electrical work
- Experience with hand tools and basic construction
- Any exposure to electrical work (hobby, vocational school, etc.)
- Technical or trade school background
- Bilingual capabilities (English/Spanish)
- Previous experience in construction, roofing, or related trades
- Starting pay: $15-$22 per hour based on experience and aptitude (1099 contractor)
